This program was created to help students in the United States learn about a major crisis in Africa and other parts of the developing world: the persistent problem of the tens of millions of children who grow up without receiving the most basic education. And the vast majority of those children are girls. So PCNAF is recruiting teachers who want to integrate information about this crisis into their curriculum to participate in the program. Teachers will receive assistance in developing curriculum to inform their students about: 1) the need for universal basic education; 2) disparities in girls' education in Nigeria and other developing countries; 3) the economic and social benefits of educating girls; and 4) ways in which students can become part of a worldwide movement of people committed to supporting education for all children and eliminating disparities in girls' education. In addition to engaging in fundraising activities to support the scholarship program, students will also have an opportunity to correspond with the PCNAF scholarship recipients and their teachers, and participate in cross-cultural exchanges (letters, photos and artifacts).
